It’s a strange time we find ourselves living in. We finally have incredibly powerful computers connected to a global network that we can carry around in our pockets wherever we go. These little devices offer us conveniences that would have seemed like science fiction just a few decades back. Yet we also have a growing number of individuals who are rejecting these smartphones in favor of older technology. They are turning to flip phones and the basic apps they offer as an escape from endless doomscrolling and screen time.
A company called Light has been catering to this crowd for a decade, so it is quite familiar with the flip phones that are in common use. The Light team kept finding the same things over and over: vintage phone options are limited, they lack support, and many times they even come loaded with the sorts of addictive apps their users...
