Google's Gemini Notebook Is Changing How It Limits Your Daily AI Use
Google is changing how Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) manages usage limits. Starting September 2, the company will switch from daily caps to a usage-based budget system. This tracks how much processing power each task uses instead of counting how many times a person uses a tool, so if your actions require more resources, they use more of the allocated budget.
The update also changes how and when limits reset. Instead of a daily refresh, your budget will refresh every five hours, and a weekly cap will replace the current monthly limit. If you hit your budget in the five-hour window, you must wait until the next window opens. If you hit your weekly cap, too bad: You'll have to wait until the week resets.
