Phone theft is a significant and growing problem in cities around the world. London alone recorded over 71,000 smartphone thefts last year, and that number does not account for the countless incidents that go unreported. It can happen in the flash of an eye: one moment the device is in your hand, and the next it is gone, along with everything stored on it. It is also the feeling one may get when their 7-year-old grandchild grabs their iPhone from their hand and takes off laughing. What can be done? Quite a bit, as it turns out, and Apple is working on a new trick as well.
