Meta-owned messaging giant WhatsApp is expanding its security architecture with the global rollout of a new “trust warning” safety feature. According to reports from feature tracker WABetaInfo, the update is going live simultaneously across iOS and Android ecosystems to actively shield users from malicious communication and phishing scams.

Unlike traditional reporting tools that require users to manually flag a suspicious conversation after it has already commenced, this update establishes an immediate buffer layer. When an individual attempts to interact with an incoming message sent from an un-saved or unknown phone number, the app automatically halts the interaction by deploying an introductory warning card directly onto the interface.
