Even Realities' Productivity-Focused Smart Glasses Bet on Users Creeped Out by Constant Recording
Even Realities, the company behind the Even R1 smart ring, is capitalizing on public skepticism around camera-equipped smart glasses. Instead of recording a user's surroundings, its G2 smart glasses focus on productivity, with a head-up display, translation features, and an AI assistant.
The G2 glasses look like any other smart glasses (which collectively are starting to look more and more like normal eyeglasses), but can display green text and simple menu interfaces using tiny projectors. The company says this design gives users real‑time information without making people around them worry that someone is recording them.
This new iteration on the company's original G1 glasses feature "Conversate," an AI-powered tool that can offer post-converation summaries and context. Another functionality handles live translation, showing real-life "subtitles" for multiple languages. Navigation, teleprompter scripts, calendar items, and basic productivity tools also run on the glasses.
