An Antique Lamp That Responds to Your Every Move
A vintage floor lamp is not the sort of thing you would normally expect to follow you around the room. But in an interactive installation called Bloom Chandelier, a family heirloom has been transformed into something that seems almost alive. Built around a brass floor lamp passed down from the creator's great-grandmother, the project combines modern sensing technology, dynamic lighting, and generative audio to create a work of art that responds to the presence of nearby people. As visitors approach, the lamp gradually awakens, glowing brighter and filling the room with ethereal tones before quietly returning to silence as they leave.
This is made possible using eight VL53L1X time-of-flight distance sensors mounted around the lamp's collar, which give it a full 360-degree field of awareness extending roughly four feet in every direction.
