CIOs are strategic revenue generation investors, according to the CIO Report from managed services provider Logicalis. The report will reassure those CIOs looking for roles or those recently recruited to the role. March has been another strong month for digital hires as organizations continue to invest in technology and technology leadership.

The study of 1,000 global CIOs finds that the CIO is no longer focused on enablement but has become strategic, with 95% of the survey respondents stating they are investing in technologies that will create new revenue streams. Unsurprisingly, this cohort is reporting to the board the return on investment (ROI) for these projects.

Given the hype, it is also not surprising to read that artificial intelligence is the leading investment in the last 12 months, followed by machine learning and the Internet of Things (IoT).
