Track Down Your Misplaced Phone Instantly with an ESP32
Most of us have lost a phone somewhere around the house. Sometimes it's hiding in the couch cushions. Other times it's buried under a pile of papers on a desk or left charging in an unexpected room. Calling it is the obvious solution, but that only works if the ringer is on and another phone is within reach. Looking for a more reliable alternative, Gleb Shalimov built a handheld BLE phone finder that uses an ESP32-S3 to guide you to your phone with sound and vibration.
The project continuously scans for Bluetooth Low Energy advertisements and watches for a specific device, identified by its MAC address or name. As the ESP32-S3 detects those packets, it measures the received signal strength (RSSI). The measurements are displayed on a small screen and converted into a series of clicks from a piezo buzzer and pulses from a vibration motor. The closer you get...
