This Hilarious Movie Is Now Streaming and I Can’t Believe It Actually Got Made
Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie has nothing to do with Nirvana the actual band, and doesn’t actually parody that group at all. It does parody Back to the Future, though. And it’s one of the funniest things I’ve watched so far this year.
To back up for a second, Nirvanna the Band the Show began as a web series that developed a cult following when it first came out between 2007 and 2009, and eventually it became popular enough to eventually get picked up by Canadian television station Viceland in 2017, where it ran for two seasons. Both the TV series and the film, which is now streaming on Hulu, were created by Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol, real-life best friends who star together as bandmates in the fictional group they call Nirvanna the Band.
