TSMC Is Getting Paid Extra for 4nm Chips From Arizona Fab
extremetech.comPhase 1 of TSMC’s Arizona fab appears to be producing about 10,000 wafers a month, according to a recent report. The Taiwan foundry is understandably secretive about the chips it produces for customers, but it occasionally reveals noteworthy details. One of those came during TSMC’s conference call, according to Tom’s Hardware and Seeking Alpha. The company confirmed that it charges more for chips made at the Arizona fab than those in Taiwan.
“Do we charge a little bit higher? Yes, [we do] because we have a value of geographic flexibility,” said TSMC Vice Chairman & CEO, C.C.
