Samsung Galaxy S22 Users Face Bricked Phones After One UI 6.1.1 Update


Samsung's latest One UI 6.1.1 update, released in September 2024, is reportedly causing problems for many Galaxy S22 users—especially those with Exynos 2200-powered devices in Europe and Asia.

The Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 update has led to many reports of devices becoming unresponsive after installation, phones stuck in boot loops, random restarts and crashes, and overheating issues, as reported by Android Police.

Samsung's customer support has reportedly advised some affected users that their devices require motherboard replacements, which come at a high cost as most of these phones are now out of warranty.

It looks like the bricking problem mainly affects Galaxy S22 models with the Exynos 2200 chipset, which are common in European and Asian markets. Devices with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, mainly sold in the United States, seem unaffected by these issues.
