NVIDIA Unveils GeForce RTX 50 Blackwell, Up To 3X Faster Than RTX 4090

It was back in September of 2022 that NVIDIA first revealed the GeForce RTX 4000 series. The GeForce RTX 4090 has been the reigning GPU performance champ, essentially unchallenged, ever since then. It just abdicated the throne to its successor, though: the GeForce RTX 5090 is here, bringing with it the consumer version of the Blackwell GPU architecture.

Announced tonight at NVIDIA's keynote in a surprisingly windy Las Vegas, the GeForce RTX 50 series represents NVIDIA's latest efforts at bringing its generally datacenter-focused chip development efforts back home to gamers demanding the latest rendering technology and the highest GPU performance.
