Cloud-Native Recovery Needs Automation, Not Manual Runbooks

Cloud environments experiencing dozens of changes daily are rendering traditional disaster recovery approaches obsolete, creating significant risks for organizations unprepared for the new recovery paradigm, said Govind Rangasamy, vice president of portfolio marketing at Commvault.

"The problem with [traditional] runbooks is that by the time you write the runbook … your environment has changed," Rangasamy said. "These environments are changing every minute, almost 50 times per day, and that becomes a problem. That's why the traditional runbook model doesn't work if you code everything dynamically, meaning in the age of AI."
