Blue Ghost Lander Snaps Striking Photos of Lunar Sunset, Total Lunar Eclipse


Firefly Aerospace, the Texas-based space startup behind Blue Ghost, released breathtaking images Tuesday of sundown on the Moon. The pictures, which depict the lunar landscape shifting as the Sun sinks into an inky horizon, are the highest-resolution images yet of lunar sunset. They ride on the coattails of a gorgeous picture of a total lunar eclipse, which Blue Ghost caught Friday before concluding its mission and going dark.

Blue Ghost touched down on the Moon earlier this month after roughly six weeks of travel. During its journey, the lander snapped some stunning pictures of the Moon's far side and Earth from afar. But Blue Ghost didn't only fly to the Moon for Firefly's benefit.
