Lloyds Banking Group is one of the UK's leading financial services organizations, with 26 million customers, over 60,000 employees, and £34 billion ($27bn) in annual revenue. Its history stretches back over 325 years — but it still has to move with the times. To help it move faster, its engineering and product teams have been adopting an agile delivery model centered on a platform strategy in which each of the bank's major systems play their part — from web apps, HR and core banking to enabling platforms such as cloud infrastructure, data, and so on.

The move to agile gathered pace two years ago, following the appointment of Ron van Kemenade, formerly CTO at leading Dutch bank ING, as its Chief Operating Officer.
