Systemic failure - systems of everything & nothing? (2/2)

Tech marketers are having a field day with the “Systems Of ___” nomenclature. Just today a vendor opined that we were moving from “Systems of planning to systems of decisions”.

There are even vendors pitching “Systems of Organization” and “Systems of Action”. I suspect a Systems of Organization is something that is needed to help AI tools understand who works for the firm, what their status is (e.g., full-time, contractor, intern, etc.), who they report to, what organization units they are part of (e.g., department, project, country, office, etc.), what their position is (e.g., customer service agent Level 2) and when this was effective, and, much, much more.

While this sounds like the data in an HR system, HR may have little documentation on part-timers, former employees, contractors and other people. Additionally, HR may never document all of the teams, projects and special assignments and more that a person...
