TL;DR: Overdrive, the unofficial PS5 storefront that went viral over the weekend for offering pirated PlayStation games, has reportedly been shut down by its developer after receiving a legal notice from Sony (not that he should have expected any different). While it was online, it built up a catalog of more than 1,600 free PS4 and PS5 games for jailbroken PS5 consoles, pulling AAA and indie titles directly from third-party file-hosting platforms.
The Overdrive "project" was released on GitHub on October 9, but it only took off after Edigax, a well-known PS5 modder and jailbreak tutorial creator, posted about it on social media two days later. The post racked up nearly 10 million views and drew more than 600 comments, bringing a flood of attention to Overdrive.
