Something for the Weekend - why the hardest AI skills to learn might be the human ones
The skills that shape a worker's prospects, and an enterprise's competitiveness, are being redrawn by AI. Coursera and Udemy, which merged in May, set out to map that shift in their Global Skills Report 2026, the eighth edition of Coursera's annual report and the first produced jointly.
Drawing on learning data from more than 300 million learners, it tracks which skills people are pursuing and which may matter most. One central theme is the link between technical AI skills and the human skills needed to use them well.
The UK ranks 19th of 98 countries on the report's new index of how well learners build those two kinds of skills together. Speakers at the London launch explored why, and some of their best answers came as stories.
