Packard Bell Is Back, But There's A Catch

Thankfully, there's no more beige.

If the name Packard Bell sends you back to beige desktop towers, chunky CRT monitors, floppy disks and the screech of a dial-up modem, Acer has a surprise for you. The PC brand that was seemingly forever attached to American electronics stores in the '90s got a full relaunch at IFA 2026, with lots of orange, purple, green and yellow products that shake off the design language of old.

Don't let the name fool you: the beige is gone. Packard Bell is part of the Acer Group, which is positioning the brand around affordable consumer tech that just works, rather than anything particularly exotic. Valerie Piau, EMEA vice president at Acer Europe SA, said the idea behind its new "Tech it easy" tagline is to keep everyday technology simple and offer it "all at a fair price."
