OpenAI's Codex Micro Is a $230 Physical Controller for AI Agents
The way that many software engineers work has changed since the emergence of AI coding assistants, and now OpenAI wants to change how they interact with those assistants. Best known for its algorithms, the company is now dipping its toes into the hardware space. In collaboration with Work Louder, they have developed what they call Codex Micro. It is a macropad, but unlike generic models, this one is specially designed for managing multiple Codex agents.
Codex Micro is built around the idea of keeping AI assistants within easy reach throughout the workday. The device provides dedicated controls for launching workflows, switching between conversations, adjusting agent behavior, and responding to suggestions without constantly reaching for the mouse or navigating through software menus.
