Monako Glass Brings Claude Code And Codex To Smart Glasses

A Chinese startup, Monako, has unveiled a new category of smart glasses that places AI coding agents directly in front of the user's eyes.

The device, called Monako Glass, combines a Linux-based operating system, a built-in display, camera, speakers, gesture controls, and support for AI coding tools such as Claude Code and OpenAI Codex. While smart glasses have largely been positioned around media consumption, communication, or augmented reality, Monako is targeting a different audience: developers, researchers, and AI power users.

The launch comes as AI coding assistants become increasingly embedded into software development workflows. Rather than focusing on the glasses themselves, Monako's launch points to a larger question emerging across the technology industry: what happens when AI-native work moves beyond laptops and smartphones?
