Meta Gives Facebook Marketplace Sellers A New Operating Layer
Facebook Marketplace began as a simple way for people to buy and sell items within the Facebook ecosystem. A decade later, the platform is handling 430 million listings every month globally, with some sellers using it not just to clear out unwanted items but to generate side income and run small businesses.
That shift is changing what sellers need from the platform. For someone managing a growing inventory, responding to multiple buyers, updating prices, tracking performance, and creating listings, a general-purpose social media app may no longer be enough. Meta is now responding to that shift with a dedicated app built specifically for Facebook Marketplace sellers.
The app, called Seller, is now available on the App Store for users aged 18 and above in the United States. It brings listing creation, inventory management, buyer communication, and performance insights into a separate seller-focused experience.
