Meta Announces Its First Anti-Pervert Smart Glasses

On Wednesday, Meta announced the all-new Ray-Ban Meta Audio, a camera-free iteration on its existing smart glasses. With no visual sensors whatsoever, the glasses focus on open-ear listening for music and phone calls, as well as access to Meta AI.
Though Meta doesn't say it, we can assume the new design forgoes a camera due to ongoing complaints about people using smart glasses to secretly record people in public or during intimate interactions. Meta has taken some steps toward discouraging this behavior by installing lights that indicate when recording is active and blocking camera use when the light is covered or tampered with. Still, some places have begun to prohibit smart glasses entirely out of concern for people's privacy.
Wearers can use Ray-Ban Meta Audio to ask Meta AI questions, initiate phone calls, control audio playback, and activate live translation....
