Meine Electric Bets on Faster-Charging Iron-Air Batteries to Tackle Renewable Energy's Daily Storage Challenge
Indian deep-tech startup Meine Electric has received independent validation for its Fast Charge Long Discharge (FCLD) iron-air battery technology, which the company says could make iron-air batteries more suitable for daily renewable energy storage.
The validation was conducted by the battery laboratory of Customized Energy Solutions (CES), a US-based energy technology firm and parent of the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), to independently verify the battery's performance and reliability. According to the company, the assessment measured electrochemical performance, capacity retention and operational stability across repeated cycles
Why Long-Duration Energy Storage Matters
As countries add larger shares of solar and wind power to their electricity grids, storing excess electricity has become one of the biggest technical challenges.
Solar plants generate electricity only during daylight hours, while electricity demand continues even after sunset. This mismatch creates a need for Long-Duration Energy Storage (LDES) systems that can store renewable energy for several hours...
