I'm a PC gaming expert, and the Steam Machine left me unimpressed
Valve's Steam Machine has finally arrived, and it's... pretty good, I guess? Performance is great at 1080p, decent at 1440p, and decidedly mixed at 4K, and it offers an impressively compact design with minimal fan noise, perfect for living room gaming setups. SteamOS also works near-seamlessly, offering an accessible inroad for those new to PC gaming. Unfortunately, it's seriously expensive even when compared to full-fat desktop PCs rather than the cheaper home consoles it's arguably been pitted against by Valve, and the Steam Controller (which isn't included as standard) is also an unattractively pricey proposition.
