How Grindr overhauled its back end while ‘terraforming’ a future as an AI-native, with no engineering constraints to hold it back
Online dating specialist Grindr has made no secret in recent times of its intention to “terraform” itself from an app firm to an AI-native company and that has meant major transformational changes behind the scenes to its engineering teams.
It’s also revolutionizing the traditional roles they perform, with engineers now increasingly architecting, directing, and reviewing AI synthetics rather than writing code themselves.
It’s been a major re-invention, says CEO George Arison, but one that is paying off and he has the receipts to prove it:
