Gartner says AI-optimised IaaS spending to reach $42 billion in 2026
Worldwide spending on AI-optimised infrastructure as a service (IaaS) is projected to reach $42.3 billion in 2026, up 96.4% from 2025, according to Gartner. Spending is forecast to grow another 56.5% in 2027 to reach $66.1 billion.
The growth is being driven by demand for infrastructure supporting LLM training and the rapid deployment of AI across enterprise applications and workflows.
“This growth is driven by continued demand for infrastructure to support large language model (LLM) training and the rapid operationalization of AI across enterprise applications and workflows,” said Hardeep Singh, Senior Principal Research Analyst at Gartner.
Inference overtakes training
Gartner expects AI inference spending to surpass training spending in 2026, with global inference expenditure reaching $23.3 billion, compared with $19 billion for training.
