Google Gemini Hits 950 Million Users, Closing In On ChatGPT

Google’s Gemini is rapidly becoming one of the largest AI assistant platforms, with Alphabet saying the chatbot has crossed 950 million monthly active users.

The milestone comes as Google expands Gemini across its consumer products, AI services and enterprise ecosystem. The company said Gemini’s user base has grown from 750 million monthly active users in February, while daily active users have tripled over the past year.

The growth puts Gemini closer to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which reportedly crossed 1 billion monthly active users in June. The figures highlight how quickly AI assistants are moving from experimental tools to mainstream digital services.

Gemini’s Growth Shows The Power Of Distribution

For Google, Gemini’s growth is not happening through a standalone chatbot alone. The company has been integrating its AI assistant across Android, Search and other products, giving it access to a large existing user base.
