GameStop Is Trying to Sell Used PS5 Pros For $1,499

GameStop has listed used PlayStation 5 Pro consoles on its website for $1,399.99—$500 above Sony's $900 MSRP for a new unit.

How did we get here?

As usual, high demand and limited supply are behind the obscene pricing. PS5 Pros are tricky to find these days, whether new or used, and it's not about to get any easier with GTA 6 coming out this November and component shortages expected to continue throughout next year. PS5 Pro consoles are so scarce that Sony introduced a playtime threshold and lottery for potential buyers in Japan.

But used consoles are another beast. GameStop and other third-party retailers can set any price for used devices because MSRP rules only apply to new units. These companies buy consoles at low trade-in values and then resell them at whatever price they want once the stock is depleted. Sure enough, a leaked internal GameStop memonotes...
