The European Union is forcing Google to open two of it most valuable vaults, Android and Google Search. Under a pair of binding measures tied to the Digital Markets Act, the European Commission is ordering Google to give rival search engines and AI assistants a fairer shot at competing with services like Gemini. Google recently exhausted all of its legal options to fight a huge fine that was initially imposed by the European Union, confirming the tech titan would have to pay a massive penalty of over $4 billion for "abuse of a dominant position in the context of the Android operating system."
