Digital sovereignty is about more than just where your data is, warns Zoho

Sovereignty, of both digital infrastructure and data, has become an increasingly debated topic in recent time, with European customers particularly on the lookout for an open source software alternative to US hyperscalers.

The dramatic shift in tone by some has been forced by the increased politicization of the technology by the US government, changes in legislation, and Silicon Valley attitudes from some quarters. European users could be forgiven for feeling that some American corporations believe they have an inalienable right to users’ data, while holding them in apparent contempt.
