Building Billinox, an Offline-First Invoicing App for Small Businesses

Running a small business sounds simple until you have to keep track of customers, invoices, payments, expenses, and everything else that comes with getting paid. I’ve seen how easily business owners can end up using a combination of notebooks, spreadsheets, messaging apps, and scattered files just to answer one simple question: “Who owes me money?”

That question was one of the reasons I started building Billinox.

The Problem

Many small businesses and independent professionals don't need complex accounting software. A freelancer who designs websites, a contractor managing several projects, a consultant billing clients, or a small shop selling products may simply need to:

  • Create a professional invoice
  • Send it to a customer
  • Record payments
  • Track outstanding balances
  • Know which invoices are overdue
  • Keep business records safe
