Anthropic Launches Claude Duet to Automate Business Tasks Across 6,000+ Apps

Anthropic wants Claude to do more than answer questions. Its latest AI agent is designed to keep working even when users aren’t around.

The company, on Oct. 21, introduced Claude Duet, a research-preview AI assistant powered by Claude Opus 5.5 that can monitor connected business applications, identify priorities and carry out tasks in the background. Rather than waiting for individual prompts, Duet is designed to provide updates and advance ongoing work throughout the day.

For businesses, the appeal is straightforward: less time spent checking applications, following up on routine tasks and coordinating workflows. But giving an AI agent that level of access also raises questions about reliability, permissions and how much control users retain over its actions.
