Anthropic Brings Claude Inference to India Through Amazon Bedrock
Anthropic has made in-country inference available for Claude through Amazon Bedrock, allowing requests sent through the India endpoint to be processed on servers located within the country. The capability covers Claude Opus 5, Sonnet 5 and Haiku 4.5.
The October 5 launch matters particularly for banks, financial institutions, government organisations and large enterprises where data residency, auditability and access controls can determine whether an AI project moves beyond a controlled pilot.
Anthropic had committed in August to bringing local Claude inference to India. The capability was subsequently tested in private preview by customers including Reliance and CRED.
