AMD's Revived 7700X3D and 5800X3D May Need Price Adjustments to Compete

AMD has announced a pair of new-but-old gaming CPUs at Computex 2026: the Anniversary Edition Ryzen 7 5800X3D and the Ryzen 7 7700X3D. Although these chips could offer decent options for gamers struggling to build or upgrade to a newer gaming PC with currently inflated chip prices, their recommended pricing suggests AMD may need to make further adjustments to give them enough room in the lineup to be attractive purchases.

The fastest gaming CPUs in the world (for now) are AMD's 9850X3D and 9950X3D2. There's a big price difference between the two, and if you're just gaming, the former is the better value buy, but there is stiff competition from Intel's latest 270K Plus Arrow Lake refresh at a more affordable price. To compete with that—and offer greater options for gamers on older platforms—AMD is fleshing out its X3D lineup.
