AI Didn’t Kill Design. But Something About the Profession Is Changing Anyway

Design Warm-ups is 100 sessions over 2.6 years, and more than 3,000 designers who send us their work every week. Three years running, we've asked the channel the same question about AI and watched the answer shift. This year, a number that had barely moved for three years finally broke, and it's not the number you'd expect.
The fear stayed low
Will AI kill the design profession?
In 2023, the channel was just getting started, and there was barely any fear at all; back then we hadn't even split "won't change anything" and "will help" into separate options yet. From 2024, the wording settled, and here's the track since:
