Adafruit Takes a Deep Breath, Releases a Sensirion SCD43-Powered STEMMA QT CO₂ Sensor Board

Adafruit has launched a new carbon dioxide gas sensor, designed to fit into the STEMMA QT ecosystem and deliver improved performance over its predecessors thanks to a move to Sensirion's latest SCD43 sensor.

"The [Sensirion] SCD43 is a photoacoustic 'true' CO₂ sensor that will tell you the CO₂ PPM (parts-per-million) composition of ambient air," Adafruit explains of its latest sensor board. "Unlike the SGP30, this sensor isn't approximating it from VOC [Volatile Organic Compounds] gas concentration — it really is measuring the CO₂ concentration. Compared to the illustrious SCD30, this sensor uses a different measurement technique which allows it to be much smaller. The overall data quality should be very similar, however."
