I wrote about building FlipperHelper without a backend a few weeks ago. That was the fun part. This is the other part — the one where you finish coding, push to the App Store, and realise nobody is coming.
I'm a backend developer. Python, APIs, infrastructure — that's my world. Marketing is not. But my app was live, it was free, and I had no budget for ads. So I just started trying things, the way you'd debug a system — poke one channel, measure, try the next.
Six weeks later, here's what the dashboards say:
- App Store first-time downloads (90 days): 81
- App Store product page views: 279 — 51% from App Store search, 35% from web referral
- Google Search Console (last 3 months): 130 impressions, 0 clicks, average position 7–9
- GoatCounter (web analytics):~190 hits since I installed it mid-April. Top referrers: Reddit, ChatGPT, Facebook. Google: 2...
