Zomato Puts Another Price On How Customers Pay
A new fee on cash-on-delivery orders adds another layer to the food-delivery bill as Zomato and newer rivals take different approaches to pricing.
Zomato has now added another charge for customers who choose to pay when their food arrives. The fee appears separately on the bill as a “Pay on Delivery Fee” and applies to customers using cash on delivery.
The amount has varied across orders reported by users. Reports have cited charges ranging from Rs 5 to higher amounts, including Rs 20 and Rs 21. Zomato has not publicly explained how the fee is calculated.
That makes the development more interesting than a simple fee increase. Zomato is effectively putting a price on one particular part of the transaction: the choice to pay at the doorstep.
