YouTube’s comment sections are getting animated reactions, although not every viewer can post them yet.
The platform is beginning to roll out GIF comments in its mobile app, according to 9to5Google’s Oct. 14 report. Announced in September for videos and Shorts, the feature lets viewers select animations from an in-app library.
For viewers, the immediate question is whether their account has access. For businesses publishing tutorials, product demonstrations, or customer guidance on YouTube, the change also creates another type of response to assess alongside written questions and feedback.
How it works
The reported implementation lets viewers choose a GIF from a library within the mobile comment interface. Support for uploading personal GIF files remains unclear.
