You Can Reclaim Double-Digit GBs of Storage by Removing Apple Intelligence From Your Mac
A new open-source tool called RemoveMacAI lets macOS 27 users disable Apple Intelligence and delete its on-device models. This can free at least 8GB right away, but that figure grows quickly; on my device, it currently sits at a whopping 28GB.
A command-line tool by indie developer Om Lahore on GitHub removes the master toggle for Apple Intelligence in macOS 27. Even when users disable individual AI features, the large model files stay on disk. RemoveMacAI uses Apple's configuration profiles and asset management service to disable Apple Intelligence system-wide, remove the models, and block future downloads without disabling System Integrity Protection.
