You Can 3D Print This Cute Shiba Inu Desktop Pet

Remember when Sony released that little AIBO robot dog back in 1999? It could barely do anything and cost about $5,000 (adjusting for inflation), and yet it captured the attention of the entire gadget-loving world. Today, you can follow Luca Di Lorenzo's guide to 3D print your own cute desktop Shiba Inu named Nuvi for just a couple hundred dollars — and it actually does useful things.

Shiba Inu dogs are, of course, adorable little rascals. Di Lorenzo designed this desktop pet to resemble a Shiba Inu and it is almost as cute (though much less furry and much more plasticky). It isn’t ambulatory like a Sony Aibo, but it is robotic and can move. It has a head that pans and tilts, arms that move up and down, and ears that wiggle back and forth.

More importantly, it has sensors, displays, and artificial intelligence. The physical movement is nice...
