Windows XP's Cursor Indicator Is Getting a Windows 11 Refresh
Microsoft is testing a new Windows 11 mouse indicator—something that hasn't changed much since Windows XP.
Right now, pressing the Ctrl key briefly highlights the mouse pointer with a circle. Microsoft designed this setting to help people with low vision find the cursor, but the tool also helps during presentations, screen recordings, and work across large or multiple displays, where it's easy for a cursor to get lost.
The version in testing updates the indicator's aesthetic and includes an option to keep it visible until dismissed. When users turn on that option, the indicator remains around the cursor at all times, instead of disappearing shortly after. Persistent mode can also be activated via Win + Ctrl + Shift + M, and users can dismiss it with the same shortcut, Esc, or by clicking the mouse.
