Windows 11 Updates Trigger False Antivirus Warnings & Cursor Glitches

There's plenty of good and bad news abound for Microsoft and Windows 11 this week, but two new Known Issues have been getting a lot of attention. Namely, there's an issue where Windows erroneously reports that "Microsoft Defender Antivirus is turned off" and an issue where mice customization settings are being lost.

First things first, the Defender side of the story. While it's a documented Known Issue, it is thankfully a harmless bug that isn't impacting the antivirus operations of Defender whatsoever. So if you happen to be getting hit with that warning message despite having enabled Defender already (which we recommend to most readers, barring extreme circumstances,) don't sweat it. Sadly, there's no known fix beyond waiting for Microsoft to update the problem away.
