When you’re Masayoshi Son, the founder of SoftBank back in 1981, CEO ever since, and planning to hang on to the top job for another 15 years or so, you don’t need to give a damn about very much really. So when you’re asked about Elon Musk’s plans for data centers in space, you can give that three word riposte above and move on.
There are, after all, many other things to take Son’s fancy. After all this time in the tech sector, he remains an enthusiast, one convinced of the potential that lies ahead - and, of course, his firm’s role in shaping it. The new kids - the Altmans, the Musks, they can take their place in line! There’s work to be done here.
