What I’d say to me back then – why ServiceNow’s Jayney Howson says we’re at a crossroads for tech democracy

When Jayney Howson was at school, it was standard for students to take a careers test. You answered a series of questions about your likes and personality, and in return, received a suggestion of what job would suit you best. For Howson, the advice was to work in advertising, which she did for the first part of her career.

From age 17, she started getting work experience in advertising with internal marketing teams before going to university to study media communications, followed by a stint in the London marketing scene. Howson notes:

I was just very passionate about getting into that world. I just love people falling in love with stuff so that's why I love marketing. I'm obsessed with the concept of what humans can do but also just the fact that you can convince humans to buy something they don't know they want.
