Volvo names Klaus Zellmer as chief executive

Volvo Cars has appointed Klaus Zellmer, chairman of the board of management at Skoda Auto, as president and chief executive, taking over from Hakan Samuelsson no later than 1 October 2027. Skoda posted an 8.5% operating margin in the first half of 2026, against Volvo’s 3.5% for last year and an 8% target with no date attached.

Volvo Cars has appointed Klaus Zellmer as president and chief executive, the board said on Sunday. He takes over from Hakan Samuelsson no later than 1 October 2027.

That is more than a year away.

Zellmer has run Skoda Auto since 2022. Before that he sat on the Volkswagen Passenger Cars board with marketing, sales and after sales, and spent more than 20 years at Porsche, including running its German and North American businesses.
