Users front-and-center at Spain's Design Enterprise Systems conference - with people-led AI top of the agenda
I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from last week’s Design Enterprise Systems (DES) conference in Malaga, Spain, but in the end it turned out to be pretty refreshing. Its theme was ‘Machines Learn People Lead’, and, in a welcome move more conferences might emulate, most of the sessions were headed up by organizations with real life examples of their struggles in implementing AI, achieving any ROI, and trying to keep up with AI innovations and future-proof their operations.
For example. in the Banking and Insurance conference stream, Victor Sanchez, Head of Strategy - Engineering at BBVA (Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria), Spain's second-largest bank after Banco Santander, described how the bank had looked at its organizational shape, before preparing for an AI-driven future:
