Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje Unveils MSME Procurement Report

A new India SME Forum (ISF) study puts the scale of that opportunity into perspective. The report estimates India’s MSME procurement economy at ₹124.9 trillion and finds that more than 75% of surveyed MSMEs spend between ₹10 lakh and ₹1 crore every month on procurement. Yet only 30–40% of procurement spend currently flows through digital channels.

That suggests the next phase of digital procurement will not simply be about getting more businesses to buy online. The bigger challenge will be moving a larger share of existing procurement activity into digital workflows.

The findings come as ISF launched its Digital Bharat: India Digital Procurement Report 2026 in New Delhi on August 8. The study covers more than 27,000 registered MSMEs and examines procurement behaviour across manufacturing, services and trading businesses.
