Ultraviolette Puts ₹779 Crore Behind Its EV Scale-Up
Ultraviolette Automotive is putting ₹779 crore into a new manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, as the electric two-wheeler maker prepares for a much bigger production game.
The company plans to build the facility over the next five years, with an initial annual capacity of 2.5 lakh vehicles that can eventually be expanded to 5 lakh. The plant will complement its existing facility near Bengaluru, which can currently produce up to 50,000 vehicles a year.
The bigger significance of the investment is not just the additional capacity. It comes as Ultraviolette moves beyond its premium electric motorcycle positioning and prepares to target larger sections of the two-wheeler market with products such as the Tesseract scooter and Shockwave motorcycle. That puts manufacturing scale at the center of its next phase.
